The trouble with Heman Kahn is that he was assuming a rational player on the other side. One grounded (however loosely) in a similar culture. The Soviets fit that model.
You are making the mirror imaging mistake.
That was the mistake we made with the Austrian Corporal. We mirror imaged him. We assumed he played from a similar script. We assumed all that stuff he wrote in that crazy book was just fantasy.
I was referencing Kahn's work for other reasons besides Iran.
I would say Ahmadinejad is logical, he's just starting from way different premises.
